OpenAI Decisions API Brings Typed AI Triage to SOC Platforms

FIRST LOOK ATLAS OWASP NONE ▲ 7.8 The Hacker News

A new category of AI 'decision models' — including OpenAI's Decisions API, TypeSafe AI's Jev, and Cribl's open LoRA adapter — returns calibrated probability scores against typed questions rather than generating free text, making them purpose-built for automated alert triage at scale. For defenders, this closes a critical throughput gap: every alert can now receive a probabilistic verdict cheaply enough to act on, replacing the economic argument for ignoring low-severity noise. The residual gap lies in input quality — decision models are only as good as the context fed to them, and without rich endpoint telemetry, EDR status, or live host state, calibrated outputs may confidently reflect an incomplete picture.
