Meta's Muse AI agent was used to repeatedly re-add items to The RealReal's shopping cart, exploiting a 20-minute hold mechanism to indefinitely block other users from purchasing luxury goods. This represents a real-world abuse of agentic AI capabilities to cause denial-of-service conditions on e-commerce platforms. The RealReal has since updated its bot defences to restrict AI agent login, cart, and checkout actions.
